The rapid development and diversification of sports around the world is influenced in part by movements such as the Olympics and Paralympics. At the Tsukuba International Academy for Sport Studies the focus on Olympic and Paralympic education as part of the “Sport for tomorrow” legacy is one aspect of the internationalization of sport education in Japan in the lead up to Tokyo 2020. This article outlines the efforts of the academy in sport education and the development of linkages between Japan, other countries, and organizations and the enhancement of social capital in local and international communities.
