Despite the inclusion of Maori artefacts and rituals, a question remains as to the perceived impact of Māori culture on the Games team experience along with the level of understanding about what such included features represent in terms of a genuine and distinctive national identity. Increasing such knowledge would help to inform the potential influence that Māori culture could have on both the New Zealand Olympic Committee organisation and future Games team members, particularly enriching the experience of those involved, showcasing New Zealand’s unique bi-cultural status to the world, and speaking back into the hearts and minds of the nation.
